Global web traffic data unveiled by online mobile research company 51Degrees.mobi shows that the HTC One is on the verge of surpassing the Xperia Z to become the third major „halo” handset after the Galaxy S4 and the Apple iPhone 5.
This is in stark contrast with what happened at the beginning of the year when web traffic generated globally by Nokia’s Lumia 920 smartphone accounted for more than 90 per cent of the traffic, ten times more than what was generated by the Sony Xperia Z, the HTC One and the BlackBerry Z10 put together.
By the end of May though, the market had levelled out. Web traffic for the Xperia Z had surged, peaked to 40 per cent in April and fell slightly the following month while that for the HTC One increased almost ten times from March to May 2013.
What is puzzling is that web traffic generated by HTC’s top-of-the-range handset dipped during the first three months of the year before bouncing back, a hint perhaps that stock issues have now been eased out.
The current line up shows that the Nokia Lumia 920 is now third after the HTC One and the Xperia Z with the BlackBerry Z10 coming last.
